NWBC Huge Success!

Seattle Mariners' John Jaso (Catcher/DH) and Tom McNamara (Director of Amateur Scouting)
Join NWBC team of speakers!

Tom McNamara
joins us again this year. Tom has supported the NWBC the past 3 yrs with his annual appearance and insight into the organization both current and future…Before assuming the role as Director of Amateur Scouting, Tom was an Area Scout for the Mariners from 94-2000…Tom is a former Professional player who played one yr in the Mariner organization and, I believe, as a college athlete stole 71 bases in one season(1988).  Set the the NY State College record for SB and his subject presentation today(Base running)will give all of you insight into the philosophy, game management and strategies to put
“Small ball into action"

John Jaso
, from Chula Vista, California, was traded to the Seattle Mariners in 2011 from the Tampa Bay Rays where he was drafted out of Junior College.. In 2012, he led the Mariners in Batting Average and on base percentage Career highs in HR, RBI’s and OBP (394). John was a valuable member of the Mariners who when not catching also was the DH for the club.  He also, as many of you should know caught the first perfect game in Seattle Mariner history…. John’s topic this morning is:  How to stop the running game.

Darwin Barney
Wins 2012 MLB
Gold Glove Award!

Chicago Cubs second baseman Darwin Barney tonight was awarded the 2012 National League Rawlings Gold Glove for defensive excellence at his position, the first Gold Glove of his career and the first by a Cubs second baseman in 21 years.

In just his second full season in the big leagues, Barney led all major league second basemen with a .997 fielding percentage this season, committing only two errors in 731 total chances covering 1,270.1 innings. Barney tied the single-season major league record by playing 141-consecutive games at second base without an error, first done by Detroit’s Placido Polanco in 2007.
